The story
Why this place matters
Jagalchi is one of Korea’s largest seafood markets and a defining part of Busan’s port identity. Live and dried seafood are sold in and around the main market building, with restaurants offering fish selected from the sales floors.
The market’s history is closely associated with the women vendors known as Jagalchi ajumeoni, who built livelihoods around the post-war fish trade. It remains a working market, not a staged attraction.
Fit it into your trip
Visit with Nampo and Gukje Market rather than as a separate cross-city trip. Ask for the total price and preparation charges before ordering seafood for an upstairs meal.
