Why this place matters
Samgwangsa is a large Buddhist temple complex on the slope of Baegyangsan, within Busan rather than far outside it. Its principal halls, bell pavilion and 30-metre Daebotap create a substantial religious and architectural site.
The temple also operates different temple-stay and cultural programmes, although availability must be confirmed directly. The atmosphere changes significantly during major Buddhist observances, when visitor numbers and decoration can increase.
