Why this place matters
The National Maritime Museum brings together the many ways Korea is connected to the sea: navigation, trade, marine life, science and the history of coastal communities. Its collection includes thousands of objects displayed across permanent and temporary galleries.
The building itself is designed around the form of a water droplet and contains family-oriented facilities alongside the main exhibitions. It is one of the strongest indoor choices on Yeongdo when rain, heat or winter wind makes a long coastal walk less appealing.
Fit it into your trip
Use the museum as the anchor for a quieter Yeongdo day, especially with children or in poor weather. It is not in the same compact walking cluster as Nampo, so check bus or taxi time before adding another old-city stop.
